Belgian teacher creates game for hunting books same style as Pokémon GO

Posted By: DZPROKORA - 2:38 PM

Belgians are hunting books, instead of Pokemon

Inspired by the success of Pokémon Go, a Belgian primary school headmaster has developed an online game for people to search for books instead of cartoon monsters, attracting tens of thousands of players in weeks.

Players post pictures and hints about where they have hidden a book and others go to hunt them down. Once someone has finished reading a book, they "release" it back into the wild.
Aveline Gregoire is a primary school headmaster who put together an online game that’s similar to Pokemon Go. But rather than running an app on iPhone that uses the GPS and camera to send you around time chasing for objectives, this game only needs Facebook for communication purposes.
Called Chasseurs de livres, or Book hunters, the game is about hunting books in a Pokemon Go manner.
“While I was arranging my library, I realized I didn’t have enough space for all my books. Having played Pokemon Go with my kids, I had the idea of releasing the books into nature,” Gregoire told Reuters.
The game is pretty simple: all you have to do is look for hints and hunt the books. As soon as you read the captured book, you release it into the wild and post about it on Facebook.
Created a few weeks ago, the game already has more than 40,000 people following it on Facebook.
Gregoire is apparently thinking about developing a mobile app for the game, given its huge popularity.

Cuba first to eliminate mother-to-baby HIV transmission

Posted By: DZPROKORA - 10:26 PM
An important victory against AIDS,Cuba has become the first country to eliminate the transmission of HIV and syphilis from mother to baby, the World Health Organisation has announced.
The WHO’s director general, Margaret Chan, said it was “one of the greatest public health achievements possible” and an important step towards an Aids-free generation.
Over the past five years, Caribbean countries have had increased access to antiretroviral drugs as part of a regional initiative to eliminate mother-to-child transmission.
HIV and syphilis testing for pregnant women and their partners, caesarean deliveries and substitution of breastfeeding have also contributed to the breaking of the infection chain, said the WHO.
Carissa Etienne, the director of the Pan American Health Organisation, which partnered with the WHO on the initiative, said: “Cuba’s achievement today provides inspiration for other countries to advance towards elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis.”
It is estimated that each year 1.4 million women living with HIV become pregnant. Untreated they have a 15-45% chance of transmitting the virus during pregnancy, labour or breastfeeding. The risk drops to just over 1% if the mother and baby are treated with antiretrovirals.
Globally, more than 35 million adults and children are living with HIV but the infection rate has slowed significantly, with 2.1 million becoming HIV positive in 2013, down from 2.9 million in 2005, according to UNAids data.
Scientists have said eradicating Aids is feasible if HIV prevention continues to grow, even if there is no cure. The reduction in infection rates in Cuba is seen as a major breakthrough in the campaign to rid the world of the virus.
Incidence of syphilis transmission is close behind with 1 million pregnant woman worldwide infected. This can be eliminated with simple treatments such as penicillin during pregnancy.
In 2013, only two babies were born with HIV in Cuba, and only five born with congenital syphilis.
According to the WHO, the number of children born every year with HIV has almost halved since 2009, to 240,000 in 2013.

5 reasons why you should build your next PC

Posted By: DZPROKORA - 7:55 PM
Why you should build your next PC
Don't buy your next PC. Build it. The advantages are legion. For starters you have complete control over the build. You'll learn more about your machine by building it. You'll be able to pick components from manufacturers that you trust and you won't waste cash on components that aren't important.
You can build a system that's the perfect size for the space you have; a machine that hits your budget too. Hell, you might even save money.
Combine it with the most beautiful screen you can afford, and plug in the best darn peripherals around and you're good to go. Basically, build it yourself and you can create your perfect PC, as opposed to someone else's concept of perfection.

The bits you need for the machine you want
Of that long list of advantages, the key entry is the fact you get to pick exactly what goes in the machine, and thus tailor it to your needs.
If you want to play the latest games at the best quality settings, then make sure you dump most of your money on the graphics card, because that single component is going to be doing the lion's share of the work. Want to build a video editing system? Then plenty of memory, a beefy CPU and fast storage are all going to do you favours. Just want to build a budget rig? Pick the best value components.

 3    What you'll need
or most machines your component list needs to include:
  • Graphics card
  • Processor
  • Motherboard
  • CPU Cooler
  • Memory
  • Storage
  • Optical drive
  • Case
  • Power supply
  • Operating system
  • Screen
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Headset/Speakers
Once you've got your perfect PC list it's time to actually go out and buy it.

    Shop around and save cash!
It's a truism of modern consumerism, but if you want the best deals, you've got to shop around. There's an important caveat to bear in mind though, and it's a caveat that makes sense of some of the low, low prices you'll find on some of the most sought-after pieces of kit.
That caveat is your biggest nemesis in this bargain hunt: postage. Get each piece of kit from a different retailer and any savings you've made will be swallowed up by the shipping costs and then some.

     Bundle for even bigger savings
The thing to do is to pick your list of components from several resellers and see which one works out cheapest overall. If there are one or two real bargains (even after including the shipping costs), then it may be worth buying those on their own, but the general rule is to buy everything from one, or maybe two, shops.

Why 4K smartphone?

Posted By: DZPROKORA - 2:53 PM
Is this the world s first 4K smartphone
It's been hinted at for some time, but now we've got our first report of a smartphone rocking a 4K display.
The phone in question is the ZTE Star 3, which GizmoChina reports packs a 5.5-inch screen with a staggering 2160 x 3840 resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 808ppi.
That's a huge step up from the 5.5-inch 2K display on the LG G4, which boasts a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and 538ppi.
This news comes via sources of the Chinese media, so take it with a pinch of salt, but we wouldn't be surprised if a China based manufacturer was the first to stick a 4K panel in a phone.

Overkill?

While it's impressive to squeeze a 4K display into a smartphone, there are many who wonder whether the humble human eye will see any real difference between a 4K offering and rival 2K and 1080p screens.
Add to that the fact the battery is going to take one hell of a beating and we're left wondering if the inclusion of a 4K screen is really worth it.
There's no release date mentioned for the rumoured ZTE Star 3, while other 4K handsets are expected to arrive in 2016.
